What we are.
Most studios making video for podcasts come from video. They learned to make audio adjacent to it.
We came the other way around.
1UpMedia started as a narrative audio studio. Heinous, our true crime show, was a commission for one of Asia's largest broadcasters and went on to earn nominations at international audio awards. From there, we adapted it into Grim Asia, our docu-animation series. Our team came from radio, podcast, and editorial backgrounds before they came to motion design. Today we work with broadcasters and audio publishers who produce some of the best narrative audio in the world.
Narrative audio is already cinematic. The pacing, the atmosphere, the dramatic shape. It's all there in the writing and the production. What's missing in a video-first world, is just a visual face that earns the audio its second life. We bring that face. We don't change what made the audio great. Because narrative audio is already the work, and we believe great work, treated with respect, is enough.
